This particular model is produced in a classic khaki 100% natural cotton gabardine by Holland & Sherry. The fabric is 100% cotton, utilising the finest, long staple fibres, only found in the top 2% of the world’s crop. After gentle spinning and doubling, the yarn is woven into a very dense Oxford weave, using up to 30% more yarn than conventional fabrics.

The performance of these fabrics results from the properties of cotton fibres which expand when they come into contact with water. The combination of fibres, yarns and weave causes the expansion in a uniform manner. This allows the interstices within the fabric to close up, preventing the further passage of water. In addition to this, the fabric is impregnated with a high-quality DWR system which enhances the fabrics water resistant properties. The fabric therefore provides excellent protection against the wind, rain, snow and cold.

      The John Simons Overcoat is based upon a vintage Burberry model famously purchased and worn by our very own proprietor in 1961, whilst working as a window dresser for Cecil Gee on Charing Cross Road. With a seamless one piece raglan sleeve, which flatters all shapes and sizes, our overcoat is the perfect combination of functionality and elegance.

      This particular model is produced in a beautiful Harris Tweed fabric. This overcoat is reminiscent of early 1950s American outerwear, in the period that predates the Ivy League Boom years of the latter 1950s and 60s. A veritable slice of Mid Century Americana, produced with fabric from one of the oldest British Mills and delivered direct from Chiltern Street.
