Ivy The Elephant Handwoven Patchwork Madras Figure

Ivy The Elephant Handwoven Patchwork Madras Figure

A companion piece to our collaboration with The Original Madras Trading Company, Ivy the Elephant celebrates the enduring appeal of genuine handloomed Madras cloth and the craftsmanship behind it. Produced in a limited edition of just 50 pieces, each figure is individually handmade, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.

Each Ivy the Elephant is made using offcuts from our Tyner Madras shirts alongside a selection of other handloomed Madras cloths, giving new purpose to fabric that might otherwise go unused. This patchwork construction reflects the rich variety of Madras plaids and colours, while also embodying a more thoughtful approach to production, where waste is minimised and every piece of cloth is valued.

As with the shirts themselves, the fabric originates in the region surrounding Chennai and is woven by skilled craftspeople on traditional handlooms. The subtle variations in texture and pattern found throughout each piece are a reminder of the handcraft behind the cloth and the individuality that defines true handwoven Madras.

Part decorative object, part keepsake, Ivy the Elephant is a celebration of craftsmanship, heritage and character. A small piece of Madras history, made to be enjoyed for years to come.
